VFX PROJECT MANAGER
As VFX Project Manager at PurpleDOG Post, you would entirely manage the VFX component of all current projects—large and small; and there are a LOT of them! You are the Project Manager, a VFX artist who has a creative eye, and a customer service representative when it comes to talking with the client. You will not be bored and will not ever sit idle. This is not a “sit back and relax” job.
Employment: Full-time, fixed-term one-year contract with an option for renewal.
Salary: Based on experience.
Location: On-site at our post-production facility in Mississauga, Ontario.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Overseeing all aspects of a VFX project, from the initial breakdown based on the script or locked picture, providing cost analysis and a breakdown of work required for every VFX shot, identifying the level of complexity of every type of VFX shot, and suggesting a team or an artist for execution of each specific VFX shot.
- Tracking shots with VFX artists to completion, identifying deficiencies, and suggesting revisions.
- Communicating with the client on the progress and creative approval of all shots.
- Creating and supervising technical and creative workflows during the various phases of the project.
- Working with both in-house and freelance teams of VFX artists, setting and managing expectations, problem-solving, and maintaining consistent delivery.
- Ensuring all project deliverables are managed and completed according to schedule and budget.
- Maintaining a positive customer relationship through both written and verbal communication, as well as high levels of customer satisfaction, by accurately fulfilling customer orders and resolving customer problems accurately, on time, and with high quality.
IMPORTANT PREREQUISITES:
- 5+ years of experience in the VFX industry.
- VFX Generalist experience.
- 2+ years of experience as a VFX Supervisor in the post-production field is an asset.
- Strong client interaction skills with excellent customer service experience for internal and external clients.
- Strong technical skills and understanding of the visual effects process, as well as post-production in general.
PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent planning, negotiating, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
- Very strong ability to identify clear priorities and meet department goals.

- The salary is negotiable, and we want to know your expectations.
- There is a 4-month trial period with a lower salary. This allows both sides to ensure the relationship is a good fit.
